DONT DO IT! you dont buy the star. its not official at all. basically your paying them about a grand to get this little plaque that says u own a star, when in reality you dont own the star. these sites will admit it right on their site, if they dont thats definitely false advertising and is punishable under the law. those sites dont own the stars, you can sell what you dont own.

treaties have been signed about this subject. things in space (except things weve put there) are owned by no one and no country.

this is taken directly from starregistry.com:

# Q: Am I buying the star?
# A: No. We do not own the star, so we cannot sell it to you.
This is like adopting the star. This star is associated with that special someone. It is something you can point at to know that there is something special out there for you.
# Q: Will the scientific community recognize my star name?
# A: No. We are a private company that provides Gift Packages. Astronomers will not recognize your name because your name is published only in our Star catalog.

There are several groups & associations who claim to sell stars (or at least the right to name them), but they are quite worthless. The International Astronomical Union is the only body which is entrusted with stellar nomenclature, and they don't sell this right to anyone.

My advice to you, as unpalateable as it may seem, is to forget the idea. All you would be buying would be a piece of paper (wrongly referred to as a 'certificate') which would only be useful as an decoration. It would be very likely to be highly illustrated & ornate, but otherwise quite useless.

No problem mate, you choose the star you wish to purchase and I will beat any other price. Transfer your funds direct to my bank account and you will get the owner documents in the post within a few days.
