and call them haters, and jump all over them. Kinda like somebody but themselves have aright to own an opinion? Am I wrong, or does it really seem like the haters are the accusers?

The World According to "Liberals":

We're Right, They're Wrong.

That, in a nutshell, is it. James Carville, Bill and Hillary Clinton's chief political advisor from the '90s wrote a book with just that title on it back in 1996. I read that book and it was a very weak expostulation of conventional liberalism - and, surprise, it didn't address any of the myriad problems that liberalism presents us with. Sadly, most of it focused on how liberals "feel".

And, if they're soooo right, why then would they even bother to listen to anyone else? In fact, and this is where it gets interesting 'cause this is what's really going on, why should anyone else even have the temerity to "speak out"?

That's the game the Dems are playing today and not just the nutjobs on YA. No, you've got Dem heavyweights like Dick Durbin (D-IL) proposing that right-wing talk radio should have to have people on their programs presenting other points of view.

This used to be a requirement back in the stone ages when radio and TV were the only means of mass communication. Mr. Durbin's premise would seem to be that the poor slobs that listen to Rush, Bill, or whoever are too stupid to think for themselves and need "another point of view" to help them figure things out.

Mr. Durbin could be forgiven for simple stupidity if he really believed that; but he doesn't really believe that - it's just a way to distract the electorate while he achieves his real goal and that is to get Rush, Bill, etc. to just shut up. After all, Mr. Durbin is right and they're wrong and, therefore, they SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK.

THAT is what's going on on the left these days. Listen for that point of view and don't be surprised how often it pops up.

What you are attempting to describe is called "Ad hominym invective", or name-calling. BOTH sides of the political spectrum do it because most of the listening populace don't know any better, don't recognize it when they hear it, and are pretty-much incapable of incisive, independant thought. It is a tool to sway those that are easily emotionally swayed rather than a tool to convince the intellectually capable. The Conservatives call liberals many uncomplimentary things as well, so there is no innocence on either side. Ignore the name-calling and look at issues, THAT will make you the type of voter that BOTH sides fear.

You're not wrong. In any school of thought, there are some adherents who don't really understand it, just follow it reflexively. They can't form cogent rebuttals to arguments that conflict with thier dogma, so they resort to labeling anyone with such an argument in some derrogatory fashion.

In the past, for instance, conservatives would just label any dissenter as a 'communist.' Today, it's 'terrorist' for the cons, 'racist' or, as you've noticed, 'hater' (if they just can't squeeze race into the issue somehow) for the libs.

This is a typical question by a Republican who does not address issues! Slamming the Democrats is easier because you don't need to KNOW any of the issues. You are not wrong...you are an accuser. But, how do you feel about the extreme drop in the stock market today, and how will it affect gas prices at the pump?

For the same reason when someone is opposed to other issues, conservatives accuse THEM of being haters. Politics is a two-way street.

If I had wanted one of Rash Limbo's talking points, I would have listened to him on the radio. Now go lay by your dish and Fox News will tell you about how everybody is seeing Republicans as the frauds they are, and you'll feel aaaaaaaaaaalllll better!!!

When a group runs out of arguments, they typically bring up hateful speech.

For example, when the pro-amnesty crowd is backed into a corner and they can't come up with FACTS to support their views, out comes the race card.

Hey, if liberals want to fund more stupid programs with tax dollars, I heartily invite them to write a check to cover the cost of the program. As for me though...not so much. We'll see how much of a do gooding philanthropist they are then huh?
