How long can an employer take to correct "extra" pay?

My employer just deducted 8 hours from my paycheck, and when asked about it, they said it was because they paid me erroneously for Christmas last year 2006 (aka "Holiday Pay"). It's now November 2007, and I'm wondering how long an employer has to "correct" this type of mistake.

You should call the Wage Standards Division at your state Department of Labor. That is the agency that can assist you. It seems like they shouldn't be able to go back that far,though. Good luck.
