He looked good at first, but what he has said in the confirmation hearings worries me. He refuses to acknowledge that torture is illegal, and he said that the president should feel free to ignore the law if he thinks he should. Haven't we had enough of that? Presidents swear to uphold the constitution, and the Attorney General does too. Isn't it time we had someone who will keep their word?

I agree. He looked good from his record, but the things he is saying in the confirmation hearings are pretty scary. How did the idea of a balance of powers between the courts, the congress and the president come to be seen as a liberal plot? I thought that was what America was all about? I hope everyone tunes in to decide for themselves and contacts their senators.

Yeah, I had the same reaction. I remember learning in school that one of the special things about the United States is that it is ruled by laws, not by men. If the president is free to ignore the law, what makes us any better than anyone else? I want a president, not a dictator, and the AG should be there to keep him honest, not to help him ignore the law.

I think at this point anyone that W. appoints to any position needs to be looked aty long and hard. The president has established a track record of appointing GROSSLY underqualified people to INCREDIBLY important positions throughout the ranks of government. I think it is time to put the man on ice and get Mrs. Clinton in there so that we, as a country, can start to fix some of the nonsense that our cowboy president has put into place.

I think he should be confirmed as Attorney General after he has been tortured in all the manners he does not believe are torture...

I think you are either a liberal or have been sucked in by the low class shenanigans in the Senate...again.
He is qualified to be AG. The left wing liberal loonies in the Senate try to find fault with, and refuse any of President Bush's nominees. The Senators want to exert power over the President and cannot do it, legally.
