That's a pretty subjective question but I think it is one of the best overall. There is so much to do all the time and there is no place in the US you can find such a wide variety of different landscapes and climates in an area of similar size. You have the ocean, mountains, deserts and everything in between all within about 2-3 hours of each other. The weather is amazing and cannot be beat anywhere else in the US, I live in San Diego the the climate is close to perfect. The beaches and beach culture and scene are the best in the US and you are close to many other great destinations like MExico, Northern CA, and Las Vegas!
I grew up in Northern CA and it's pretty great up there too but for different reasons. But I love SoCal too and most of CA for that matter.

Obviously no where in the CONTIGUOUS U.S.A. is the best. I used to live in Pearl City Oahu. The Hawaiian islands are the most breathtaking part of the States. Also, the Alaskan tundra is on the other side of the spectrum as far as beauty is concerned. Nether of these places have the phenomenal wines of California though. North or south...

NO I have lived in the SF Bay area for the past 43 years and I would not move now even if I had the opportunity. There is too much to see and do, the weather is certainly a lot better at lest we can't see the air we breath. No thank anyway I will stay right here.

I have not been to California yet; I here it is paradise and hell all rolled into one! Can't wait to get there and see. I have a friend in San Diego, and she keeps inviting us out, so we will go sometime.

Not any more. I grew up there and it was wonderful. Now the entire state has become almost fascist. Some of the laws are ridiculous. It used to be progressive, now it is repressive.
I hate going there for any reason.

San Diego is cool, but the rest of it blows. L.A. is overated, but the Sanfran area is really cool !
