Not at all. Anything to put smiles on the faces of little ones. Definitely do it next year too.

In this day and age it's not acceptable to give homemade candy to children that you don't know. Parents already have to inspect their kids candy for suspect of it being tampered with. You don't want to believe that any individuals would hurt a innocent child but you just can't be too careful nowadays.....
Besides, a candied apple, no matter how delicious, is going to be pretty messy in a Halloween bucket amongst the other candies the kids receive.
As thoughtful as your effort was (and I think it was a great idea), next year, I would only make the apples for children and parents that you know and trust, personally....Go to the $ Store and buy a few bags for the rest of the kids....

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with handing out homemade candy. If the parents don't feel safe with the kids eating it, they don't have to let them. Where my son goes to trick or treat, one person always hands out fresh made cotton candy. . .but I know the neighborhood is safe and don't worry about it.

No, I'm certain most of us feel that way when we are younger. I grew up the middle child, the one most often 'forgotten'. My sister was 12 years older and my brother is little more than 3 years younger. In 2009 our sister died at the age of 59 and by then I'd matured enough to treasure her and my brother. My brother and I are all that's left of our original family, it tends, especially after reaching 40 and losing a sibling, to bring you closer to those you have left.

maybe give them to children from families that know you and have regular candy for the ones that don't.2 more things. Not a whole lot kids like candy apples,so make some caramel ones too.And carrying one is quite a messy affair.Find some way of putting them in containers.I think they sell disposable molded plastic containers that are made to hold apples on sticks.

I think it was a nice gesture, but unfortunately it seems in this day and age there are so many freaks or we have been scared into thinking there are so many freaks that put stuff in candy or cookies or whatever that most homemade things get chucked.

its not wrong, its just pointless. my parents never let me eat homemade candy i got on halloween because they were worried that it might have dangerous things in it. if you are friends with all the parents of the kids who trick or treat at your house, its ok, but otherwise the parents will just throw them away. sorry!

It's thoughtful and your right, it does taste the best, but I'm sure a lot of parents made the kids throw it away. No offense, but I'd have made my kids throw it away b/c you can't trust anyone these days. I'd suggest saving the home made treats for family and friends

You weren't wrong in giving them out,but most ppl are paranoid of the old razorblade in the apple trick. My Dad used to write down each house address we went to,and what we recieved,in case something like that happened. It's just a case of other ppl ruining it for everyone else.
