The big bulbs can't have more then 2 strings connected... That's only 50 lights =( How do people have 1000s on the roof? 50 outlets?

A typical outdoor 20 amp circuit will power 2400 watts of light bulbs. At 5 watts each for the large bulbs, that would be about 480 bulbs. The 2 strings rule is for plugging them into each other. Not into the receptacle outlet.

That's 2 strings in a row. Three for the minature lights. That's a safe estimate for how much power the strings can carry in their own smaller wires. You can plug in a few front ends of these 3 strings into larger extension cords. Then you can plug the extension cords into different sections of the house covered by different fuses.
Careless people keep plugging things in until the fuse blows, then back off a little. This near maximum might heat up the wires until they burn.
Real fanatics, like you see on TV, put in extra wiring to supply it
