He only signed a 1 year deal with them. If they don't resign him, do you think some one will pick him up? He didn't do bad for them at all considering his past and not playing ball for 4+ years. I'm sure teams will put his drug past into consideration. I personally think the kid has a great amount of talent and with a team that cares about him, he will be an upcoming star.

If i am not mistaken, since he was a rule 5 draft player, i am pretty sure it is treated more like an option that the reds can pick up for this next year (which they did) and then throughout this year i am sure they will work on a multi-year deal.
Not keeping him around would be a huge mistake, i do believe he will be a phenomenal player once he gets completely back into a baseball groove. He had a few nagging injuries this year but i think it was partly because he had been out of the game for so long. He will definitely fill the centerfield spot for the Reds for many years to come (if they pursue that multi-year deal).
If the Reds do not pick him up for a multi-year.. well then they are rather dumb, because his talent has stardom written all over it. Theres no doubt teams will be interested in him if he ever does hit the free agency market.

Prior to his return to MLB, Josh used to workout at the same complex in Clearwater that my son attends. I used to watch him workout from time to time (my son use to shag balls for him) and I can tell you he's oozing with talent and has power to spare...he is a MONSTER. To warm up he use to set-up a tee and just crush ball after ball over the center field fence at the old Phillies spring training facility. Not easy off a tee.

Josh is a SUPER nice guy, my son thinks the world of him, but he obviously has had some demons. The good thing is he's never denied, ignored or tried to run from them...he's always been up front about things and regularly talked to the youngsters about the things he's learned from his experiences. If he can keep the demons in check, and I think he's demonstrated that he can, he will be a true baseball star someday. I think someone will pick him up...he's just too talented not to. He will be a GREAT addition to any team.

The Reds will re-sign him, probably for something close to the minimum salary. He only has one year of service time, so he has no say on next season's salary. He may qualify as a super-two and be arbitration-eligible after next season, but 2009 is more likely.

There's no way the Reds let him go, especially with that much talent at that cheap a price.

From a diehard reds fan Get something for him now!!!!!! We have dickerson bruce and stubbs in the minors We have Jr. dunn hopper keppinger coats and freel in the ml while he has probably the most talent of all except for bruce he broke down this year and will continue to due to the addiction, Bruce if not this year next is your everyday CF hopper and dickerson are leadoff hitters keppenger and freels versitility give them a spot even when jr leaves we have enough outfielders i dont understand the coats trade at all for that reason. and hes left handed 10 of 13 players on the 25 man roster are switch hitters or left handed we couldnt hit lefties at all last season

I would think the Reds will re-sign him to a multi-year deal, Dunn will be traded for pitching, Griffey played most of 2007 but this was a rare event in a Reds uniform and Norris Hopper is ready for the MLB.

The loser in all of this is Ryan Freel, who may get declining playing time and may also be traded for pitching prospects. He'd be a good fit at Washington, who have AA & AAA hurlers available, but their GM's dislike each other.

As long as he and his agent don't go nuts and ask for A-Rod numbers, the Reds should hang onto him. Injuries slowed down his comeback, but he made a statement that he's clean and ready to play!

Reds are too desparate to let him go.
