It is up to all off us and not the media and government to keep xmas. Other religions would not allow their festivals to be down graded or cancelled, so why are we lying down and taking it? What are we all scared of? They offend us and are not scared so why are we scared of offending them?

Make sure your kids talk about xmas at school, tell the school you do not want your kids learning other religions if they are not being taught their church of england. If we as the british people allow strangers, to change our beliefs, and our lives, then we are weak, just as they see us.

So stand strong and fight for your country, just like they would do. Start by complaining to the kids schools, not allowing your kids to be part of their religion. My kids dont want to learn about other religions, they refuse, as they do not see the point, as the kids in the other religions can be excluded from class, why cant our kids.

I am mixed race English, I only know the english way as that is what I am. But whether I black english, white english, mixed etc...... It is affecting us all. Not just the white english. On my road alone, there are only 2 households who are english, and that is me and my neighbour, and we are trying our best to get out of this non-english living or speaking area. I am a minority in my area. I do not know what most of my neighbours even look like.
As I was growing up, neigbours all knew each other by name. Everyone spoke, now its all segregation, no-one talks, no-one cares. Communities have died.
Its sad.
There are loads of kids on my street and they never all play together, the muslims kids only play wth the muslim kids, black kids only play with black kids, white kids (very few and far between) only play with white kids. Its sad.

You haven't read the news story properly.

You haven't read that the government is trying to downgrade Christmas - because that isn't what the news story says.

The Institute of Public Policy Research has suggested that other religions' festivals be given public recognition too.

Quote from ITN News.

"If we are going to continue to mark Christmas - and it would be very hard to expunge it from our national life even if we wanted to - then public organisations should mark other major religious festivals too.

"Even-handedness dictates that we provide public recognition to minority cultures and traditions."

1. No one's trying to downgrade Christmas - the suggestion is that other religions' festivals be given public recognition.

2. It's a think tank. it's job is to come up with crazy "what if" proposals. Most are garbage, the occasional one is genius.

3. It's a public body, not necessarily a government (as in the party in government) supporting agency.

And where did you get the idea that our kids can't celebrate Christmas in schools? That's purely and simply a lie.

If they tried this in my ancestral home in the Greece the militant conservatives would dynamite the Parliament and any Court
while in session. Well maybe not really. But this would not happen in a country like Greece.

I would like to know exactly who this "Think Tank" consists of.
(The think tank that recommend downgrading Christmas that is!)

My guess is an out of touch bunch of overpaid bureaucrats or direct ancestors of Ebeneezer Scrooge.....

Hope they get nothing for Christmas except the sack !

In answer to your question, I don't think it would happen in another country.

And the pratt dishing out thumbs down to all agreeing answers, I hope you get nowt for Xmas !

Good on you London Lady.
This is a Christian country, whether you are a full practising go to church every Sunday or just the hatch ,match and despatch type, but to try and downgrade our main Christian festival is pure lunacy
The inmates have definitely taken over the asylum.

Oh dearie, someday you may realize that there are others in the world [other than you] that don't celebrate Christmas. Why should they be forced to celebrate something that doesn't follow their religious or cultural tradition?

You do what you would like, and so will they, and we will all get along fine.
School is no place to favor one religion or tradition over another, but a place to open and expand the minds of our children, not close them shut with prejudice.

But I'm OK with celebrating Christmas, as long as the other winter celebrations are presented too, like Hanukah, Soltice, Kwanzaa, etc. The more the merrier - literally!

Have a nice day!

I agree with you totally! our government is completely letting us down and our country is being ruined by people who have already ruined their own countries. we need to stop moaning though and as a nation we need to do something and stop lettin our so-called leaders walk all over us.
