Help please!

My friend has high fees due to tickets in Mississippi (2 separate counties) and then has high fees in another state that occurred years ago.(North Carolina, this state was where the suspension took place)

Now, because of his lack of judgement and financial situation. Fate has stepped in, his employer is demanding he produce a license SOON. Unfortunately he does not have the money to pay the high fees. I need some advice to give, any suggestions.

I don't know the rules for Mississippi and I don't think a hardship license is applicable in this case. But I'm no professional. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

He has a state ID, but employer requesting license because he works a company where he may be required to drive. (shipping/receiving/delivery company)

Additional Question:

Do you think he would be able to get a Mississippi license (restricted or otherwise, even if the fine in NC is not paid?

At this point, your friend is kind of screwed. He should have probably paid his tickets rather than allowing them to go unpaid leading to his license suspension. The only way that his license can be reinstated is to pay the fees and fines associated with the violations he committed. He should talk to his employer and explain the situation to buy himself a little more time and save money or borrow money to pay the fees and fines as soon as possible.

The only way to get the license at this point is to pay the fine in full.

Why does his employer need his license?
If he drives for work he should just quit now.
If he needs it for id, he should get a state issued ID card. Every state issues them, they meet the same requirements for identification that a driver licenses does. The only thing they do not do is license a person to drive.

Your friend might benefit from appealing to the court to get a special license that only allows him to drive to work and school. It's a Restricted license. In VA it looks like a normal license with a bright red R in the middle of it. The judge may grant this because his license is only suspended for fines. The VA commonwealth is one of the hardest states to own and operate a motor vehicle in and they sometimes grant this to certain persons that meet certain criteria. Worth a shot.

sorry but until he clears up the pending cases and charged in both of the states where he has unpaid violations, he will never get a license again.

He can't get any license until all judgments have been satisfied.
