lol @ terrible success since 2000.
You are a funny guy.
Edit: They've gotten to the playoffs every year throughout the decade. But, it's true, though...after all, no undefeated seasons since 2000, so you've got a point there.
Really, you guys should just stop with the whole, "we're the Yankees, we are s'posed to win every year, we do nuthin' but win World Series, 'cos, like, we're the Yankees, and that what we as Yankees do..." nonsense once and for all.
Strike two.

Hey man,I think you need to learn how to write first and then learn a little more about baseball.I have been following the Yankees also for the last 48 years and Joe Torre is not the sole reason for their "terrible success"-LOL.
Man,have you watched any of these games?? A thing called running into a team that is playing better than you will ALWAYS knock you down off your high horse(ask the Colorado Rockies).Torre has been a manager that has done his best with the product his owner gives him(usually great stud players). If you run into buzzsaws like the Cleveland Indians,Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox,Boston Red Sox in the playoffs for the last four years--guess what?-YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE!!"Give the poor guy a break,I bet he's sure glad to GTF out of that circus!-A-Rod also!

You are a funny guy!!! You are a real funny guy!!!
Whack Job Joe Torre can only do so much its the players who have to go out on to the diamond an get it done.....In his 12 year career as Yankee manager they have made the playoffs every year....Most teams would be thrilled just to make it to the post season....But the NY Yankees are different their season starts after the regular 162 (preseason for Yankees) games are finished...The Yankee season is only 19 games long!!!!
As a Yankee fan I think Torre said it best when he stated that after winning all those world series the fans got spoiled and he is right.....We did I will admit that....But to say that he was the problem is crazy...You can say that A-Rod was a Curse I will buy that You can say the Mattingly was a curse I will buy that....You can say the pitching staff sucked I will agree with you....You can say that the Yankees relied on out scoring all their opponents to win games I will agree to that....You can say A-Rod Sucked I will agree You can say Jeter SUCKED worse then A-Rod did this past post season I will applaud you for telling the truth....YOU can say the entire team HAS failed a team I will agree....You could say something stupid like the curse of the BAMBINO is now plagued the Yankees I will LMAO.....But to say it was Torre's fault that they have not won a series since 2000 is DUMB!!!!

I have to agree with you; I always said that Joe should've been fired not after just last season, but as far back as the end of 2004. I've always felt that after winning the series in '00, and making it to the series a couple of times since, the Yanks got into a 'groove of complacancy' where the attitude seemed to be play just good enough to be barely good enough to get in, and it seems that everyone was way to comfortable with each other and not willing to step on any toes by demanding better performances-especially in the clutch. However, I'm not a Yankee fan, and this is great news for me, because it means a potential revolving door of players, coaches & even managers that will hopefully (for lack of a better word) spiral the Yankees into the cellar-or below it.

are you serious?!?!?!? i hate the yankees, ill preface my answer with that, but do you honestly believe anyone else could handle the riduculous pressures of the job, a nagging boss and all those egos the way torre did????? its a miracle what he did, he managed that team 12 years and didnt miss the playoffs twice
thats why im so glad he left new york, no other place in all of baseball would fans be a crass and unappreciative as you new yorkers, you should be ashamed
if my team had a manager who could do what torre can do (and my team does have a whale of a manager) i would never want to see him go
you wait and see, torre is going to have so much success with dodgers, i hate the dodgers, but he will
hes got enough talent their, and hes going to revive that organization
meantime your yankees will sail along in mediocrity for a long time to come, girardi will probably only manage a year or two and youll start having that revolving door that led to the yankee struggles in the 80's
and you yankee fan will deserve the misery and humiliation, because you dont appreciate talent

Where do people get their grammar skills, or lack thereof? WOW!
Winning 4 out of the first 5 World Series, tends to spoil a franchise and their fans. Making the playoffs 12 straight years tends to spoil a franchise and their fans. Therefore, the Yankees and their fans were spoiled under Torre! Was he solely responsible for their "success"? No. Was he solely responsible for their "failure"? No. Is Girardi the answer? Who knows? One thing is for sure - 2008 will be a new era (better or worse) with the Steinbrenner boys in charge and Cashman in his final year. If they have a mass exodus this Winter, it could get ugly for them.
Time will tell!

I agree wth you when you say that you were happy that Joe Torre declined the offer the yankees made, that was a cheap, embarrasing, offensive offer.. not to mention STUPID. Yea, the manager is the manager, but a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, and the yankees aren't a chain, their just a bunch of strong links dispersed.. crazy talk? no .. they're just not gether.. theres too many superstars, and no team play... if the team doesn't work, then it wont work regardless of who the manager is.

I too am lol at "terrible success since 2000"
I think it is a shame that they haven't won the world series, but it is true they have to blame the management for that and for players who are consistently screwing up. We need to get a decent team out there on the field and some players with heart. It's not all about $$$.

It's not because of Joe Torre, it's because of the management. They don't need to be spending $200 million to have a good team on the field. They do need however, to get rid of guys like Bobby Abreu, Jason Giambi, Carl Pavano, Roger Clemens, Mike Mussina, etc. They should focus their attention on Cano, Chamberlain, Duncan, etc. And now with a guy like Girardi managing the ballclub they can, in several years, be in contention to win the world series.
Getting A-Rod out of there was the first good step.

The Yanks needed a change to shake things up. Torre was great, but Girardi is a smarter baseball mind, and will not leave the pitcher in way too long like Torre has done. Girardi will lead us to the promise land.
