One formula looks simple enough to be re-typed here (the rest of them formulas are hopeless)

Can you tell me at least what this Σ thingie means?

Sigma (that symbol) just means sum of a bunch of things.
Don't worry. They explain what each symbol means as they go along.

You missed the last full moon by at least a week. If the book scares you THAT much, then, at the NEXT full moon, bury it in hallowed ground, such as a church cemetary, along with a lock of your brother's hair and a few toenail clippings.

After you have the book and accompanyments completely covered. Stand on the dirt, turn around several times while you intone the ancient, sacred chant, "Owahh! Tahfoo! Liahm! Owahh! Tahfoo! Liam!"

Repeat and keep spinning until you feel the evil leave this Earth and you fall down, dizzy and throwing up.

Then you'll feel better.
