Yes, call your township office...it is a lot easier to pay the minimal fee then to pay a hefty fine later.
I live in NJ...one town said no fee...have it any time you want. Another town required a fee and a permit to display at the sale. so it could be different from town to town in Maryland too.

Check with your city hall. Some towns require a permit.
Most people do not get a permit. Use your own judgment.
