I think that women in general tend to understand other women more. Women will try to analyze and figure out what exactly the women must have been thinking to become a prostitute and rationalize that she must have had a good reason. On the flip side, I think guys just see it as a choice they made because they like to have sex or other similar kinds of things.

I really think it depends on the person. We all draw from our own life experiences, and, some experiences make us more compassionate toward others or their particular circumstance. I love this song. I do social work, and, when someone is in my car, I often make them listen to this song. LOL. YOu can tell a lot about someone by their reactions. (of course I only do this to friends- not family or clients)

*EDIT* one thing I wanted to add here, there is a difference between a prostitute that is walking the streets and getting into a car with whomever for $20, and, an escort or a call girl. I know women that are call girls, and, they set up appointments by computer, make $400 and up an hour, require ID, often are at their own rented apartment, have security with them, receive elaborate gifts, drive expensive cars, live in fabulous homes and have good lives. I do not feel sorry for these ladies at all. They knew what they were good at, and, they figured out how to market it. You would be amazed how many of them have degrees in business (?). In my experience, these have all been very intelligent women that knew they could only do this for a limited number of years, and, they took advantage of it. I respect that.

I watched a show on HBO about these working gals on the street - only I cannot remember the name of the show.
It was really sad. These girls get into this "business" hoping to eventually get something better, and then get used to it like any other job.
Only this one pays more, but the stakes are higher. I've never understood how one gets into "the world's oldest profession", but apparently it's like the mob - once you get in, it's nearly impossible to get out.
I don't think anyone really has much sympathy for prostitutes. I mean, we as a society consider them "disposable". So if something horrible happens to them, like murder - their cases aren't looked into because others don't see them as important BECAUSE of their profession.
I think it's a waste of a human being. You know many of those girls just don't know where to turn for something besides a trick.

I'd say YES, you're correct. Men have less sympathy because men and women view sex in different ways. Men hunger for sex all the time and view it as an accomplishment because it's difficult to actually get sex from women. Women, on the other hand, typically get hit on constantly by guys trying to f**k them, so women have no reason to view sex as an accomplishment. Instead, it seems like women view sex like something they are choosing to give away. Women often seem to associate having sex with having a lowered self esteem because maybe they sometimes give a guy sex only so that maybe he will like her. But if the guy only wants her for sex, then the woman feels bad like she isn't worth anything besides sex. So anyways, women feel sympathy for prostitutes because prostitutes have "stooped so low" as to give away sex to any guy that comes along and pays her for it. This sounds awful and degrading to women. For men, the idea that we could get PAID to have SEX sounds awesome. So men have no sympathy for prostitutes.
You mention generalizations in your question and my answer is definitely one. But what I've said seems basically true in my opinion.

I know a lot of prostitutes living in Thailand where a lot of young women enter the profession as a means to support their , families back in the village. They are forced into the profession by poverty and go to the big city to find work and send money home. Many girls once they save up enough money go home and start a small business.
No question asked by the people in the village. It is a fact of life living in the 3rd world !

IMO, a prostitute is a woman who lives off her looks.
The flip side is a man who thinks that he by himself cannot get a woman's affections without paying for it.
Men who are enslaved to a woman who is like a prostitute (beautiful enough to get them to part with their cash) want the freedom from the torments they give him. This creates anger, and despair --- which can lead to less sympathy for the woman prostitute.

"Where did you get this nonsense lol. Jihad is a struggle for righteousness" Well, it appears to me that he got all this "nonsense" straight out of Umdat al Salik, the Sunni Sharia Law Manual that is certified by Al Azhar, the Muslim Brotherhood, and most high Sunni jurists. The definition of Jihad (of which there are 2 types) straight from Umdat al Salik: Chapter O9.0: Jihad (O: Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion. And it is the lesser jihad. As for the greater jihad, it is spiritual warfare against the lower self (nafs), which is why the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said as he was returning from jihad. “We have returned from the lesser jihad to the greater jihad.'' The scriptural basis for jihad, prior to scholarly consensus (def: b7) is such Koranic verses as: -1- “Fighting is prescribed for you'' (Koran 2: 216); -2- “Slay them wherever you find them'' (Koran 4: 89); -3- “Fight the idolators utterly'' (Koran 9: 36); and such hadiths as the one related by Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and perform the prayer, and pay zakat. If they say it, they have saved their blood and possessions from me, except for the rights of Islam over them. And their final reckoning is with Allah''; and the hadith reported by Muslim, “To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it.''Details concerning jihad are found in the accounts of the military expeditions of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), including his own martial forays and those on which he dispatched others.... Sorry, but saying Jihad is a struggle for righteousness, although not a complete lie, is not the entire truth. All that being said, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how anyone can think the laws contained in Sharia are a good thing. My mind boggles when I see/hear a woman trying to defend Sharia.
