I wouldn't think there's a reason for him to be back there unless he forgot something and is trying to track down which house he left it at, once my pool guy winterizes mine he doesn't come back until it's time to open it in the spring.

Probably cleaning your filter or replacing and keeping up maintenence on your pool equipment.
Your filter is still running, as it should be, and there is still maintenence that needs to be done periodically.
It sounds like he hasn't been there in weeks, so he is most likely changing out the filter. No biggie.
