adware/spyware are parasites that spy on your online activity
they track what websites you visit by putting tracking cookies.
malware is malicious software like viruses, trojans, keyloggers
etc.

Adware and spyware can both be malware.
Generally Malware is considered to be viruses, trojans, worms, etc... In short, the stuff that actually hurts your computer.

adware - pops up ads and things
spyware - collects data and sends it back
malware - screws up your system
