My husband left me. What can I do? We've only been married for 7 months, and I've been a homemaker. Can I get anything from him? BTW we live in Texas.

I too live in Dallas Texas. I feel sorry for what had happened to you. Your husband abondoned and negelcted you for unexplained reasons. However the reason might be, you can qualify to get spouse support upto six months. Alimony does not apply to your case at this time. Alimony is applied if you are married more than 10 or12 years where a couple qualify for upto a maximun of 12 months. So if you file for divorce, ask for spouse support (if you don't have kids with him)Incase you both propertied together within the 7months period you were married, you are entitled to share the properties. But you have to prove that those propertied were acquired while you were married. e.g if you don't have a car, he will be order or perhaps surrender his car to you if the car's title is under his name etc. So Sarah you have uncontested divorce at hand which won't cost you much.

Me in Texas as well...forget about alimony..if no children -- no child support...you will only get to divide up what ya'll purchased after the wedding--anything either of you owned prior to the wedding each of you owns after the wedding.

only a lawyer can tell you what you're entitled to, based on your circumstances and the state law.
