I find it to be patronizing and very offensive in general. Many times, I will get a call from a client or other business related individual and they will use these words.I've worked hard to establish my credibility in my industry. So unless it comes from someone who knows me well and whom I have some kind of a relationship with I have issues with it. Do other women feel this way - or can a guy say these things and get away with it?

I guess it depends on how a woman views it as a compliment or a sexist comment.

I totally feel that way when a strange guy does that to me. It IS patronizing and offensive. I don't think it's any different than some guy that you don't know slapping you on the butt.

Well I don't like it if it is not my husband so I just answer him back with a honey or sweetie reply and turn it around on him.

i assume you mean some random person not as in your BF or whatever. i don't mind it coming from my man but when someone that i don't know calls me that i hate it but it doesn't matter when you live in the south everyone is honey and sweetie

There are only 2 men allowed to call me by honey or sweetie:
my dad and my husband!

i guess it depends on a person. if it was a stranger and it was said in an awkward way, then i wouldnt like it, but if its like the lady at the check out counter or my husband, thats a different story.

I wonder, how does he know me so well. Really, it's a term of endearment. It's not meant to offend. Good luck. 2D

I don't like that either. When someone says that to you just say, "ok sweetheart" real sarcastically.
