I almost did one day. I decided to cook my cat some salmon fillets as a treat i put them in the oven then i came out of kitchen as the telephone rang it was my sister. I curled up on the settee to sit and have a chat we were on the phone for ages probably a hour when all of a sudden the smoke alarm sounded i shouted got to go and opened the hallway door which led to kitchen the hallway was full of thick black smoke i shut the door quickly picked my cats up and threw them in the conservatory [ cuz they are house cats didn't want them getting out ] i then rang my sister and said i think my kitchen on fire.Don't ask me why i rang her and not fire brigade i don't know i hadn't even looked in kitchen. I pulled the front door open to get rid of smoke .I was lucky the kitchen was just black smoke no flames I'm not sure if it ever would set alight but the poor cats never did get their salmon nor have i cooked it since lol

when I first got married I had a near miss I left the frying pan on with oil in it and went to the front door and obviously time I got back it was a blaze, to top it of I done the dumbest thing you can do threw it in a sink full of water. The flames flew up my kitchen curtains and everywhere. I managed to put it out luckily, but learnt a savage lesson.

Not my entire house and not me, but someone forgot oil on the stove and it caught on fire. NOTE: DO NOT throw water if this happens or flour or anything as such, turn off the stove, wet a cloth, towel and throw it on top of pot wait until it cools.

I was making brownies once and didn't remember to remove the plastic containers of mints that were being stored in the oven. The plastic melted and caught on fire.

No, but I set fire to my oven and the fire department came, hooked up their hoses, and practically tore the house apart to put it out and ventilate the house.
