I don't know why but lately, it's started to bother me that in some documentary films I've watched recently that they subtitle the people speaking English who you can perfectly understand. Like in the movie "God Grew tired of us", it's a great movie but the subtitles were distracting when they were clearly speaking English.

I don't know maybe it's my own pet peeve.

Yeah. In a way. I just think to myself "Gosh you must be really dumb if you can't understand that."
Like...I'm Jamaican and sometimes when they do documentaries or if it's the news or something, someone could be talking perfect English (not Jamaican patois) but with a Jamaican accent and there would be subtitles. And it's like...who the **** can't understand that?

well, sometimes i find subtitles distracting, but they can also be useful if you miss a word (or if someone's distracting you). I think if its a DVD, you should be able to turn all subtitles off if you want to
