If the mini pill only works while breastfeeding, then why did my doctor put me on it because of my blood pressure, my daughter is not breastfeeding. Does this mean I will become pregnant? My daughter is 8 months old. Also why does it say DO NOT TAKE THE 7 INACTIVE PILLS OUT OF THE COMBINATION PACK??? What are the chances I am going to get pregnant?

The mini pill doesn't only work while breastfeeding. It is just better to take when you are breastfeeding because it has lower doses of hormone and is less likely to interfere with your milk supply. Because it has lower hormones, I think it is slightly less effective than the other pills, but it is still a good form of birth control. If your doctor put you on it because of your blood pressure, then that is the best type of birth control pill for you to take and it is still more effective than condoms. I don't really understand your question about the inactive pills. Normally you take active pills for 21 days and then take the inactive pills for 7 days while you have your period. You might want to call your doctor's office and ask them about that.

It is less effective than the regular pill because it is lower doses of hormones, but as long as you take it at the same time every day you should be very well protected against pregnancy.

I have never noticed that it says not to take the inactive pills out of the pack. Maybe it means to leave them there, and not remove them at the beginning of the month, so that you will remember what week you are on when you get to them? I sometimes take them, sometimes I just throw them away. I figure they're just placebo pills, so I don't need them, and since I'm breastfeeding, I prefer not to take anything unless I have to!
