The simple answer is that they want to believe that. It's not rational, as there is ample evidence (including survivors and witnesses) that makes it clear that the Holocaust was a real thing. But people are quite capable of believing the most outrageous lies if they choose to. The 'why' of it varies from person to person.

Either (a) they're ignorant, (b) they think the whole Holocaust thing is a vast Jewish conspiracy -- which means they're also ignorant, or (c) they believe what they read on neo-Nazi or pro-Muslim websites -- and again, that means they're also ignorant. So I'll go for ignorant, Alex...

because they are too ashamed of what they did... and it's too cruel it's hard to belive... but it DID happen T_T
