Sometimes I think it is good to build up the excitement gradually until the peek of the Christmas season if you want to take your time to enjoy the spirit of Christmas. However, all the baking, finding movies to watch, shopping, decorating, and the like should be prepared for in advance, so you won't feel like the spirit of the season has to be forced or revolve around material things. Preparation is key, even if it means planning things out on paper.

I don't bother thinking about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. There is a month between them so that should be plenty of time to prepare. I hate the way the stores start with Christmas stuff by the first of October.

I like your way. You ease into the season by doing things on your own time. That way, you're not sick of the holiday music, burned out on the holiday shopping, bored with holiday food, and just plain done with Christmas by the second week of November! Spread out the Christmas season for maximum enjoyment - good idea.

it's not wrong. some people around here start decorating for christmas before halloween comes around. i agree that it's easier than to do everything last minute.

Absolutely not. It's more responsible to do it your way. Buy things as you can afford them, do things in advance when you have the time.
