My boyfriend has been working for $7 per hour. My boyfriend works about 58- 60 hours per week and gets no overtime. He also doesn't get two 15 minute breaks and only gets 30 min lunch. Idk if I'm just losing it but something sounds really wrong here. We live in Colorado, isn't there laws that say he has to get overtime, 15 min breaks per 4 hours, and atleast 45 min lunch? Who would l contact to dispute this. We've talked to BBB they don't handle employment practices. PLEASE HELP

He HAS to get OT. He has to get time and a half for anything past 40 hours a week. Call the Labor Relations Board. That is FEDERAL LAW. Also the BBB is for when you have issues with a company, not an employer. As to the breaks, I'm not aware of those laws. I don't live in Colorado and you didn't include the job, some jobs have different standards on breaks. For instance where I work they aren't required by law to give a break, there is no State or Federal law that says they have to give it. On the other hand if they give what they call a lunch break they are required to give a certain length of time with it.

dept of labor. 30 minute lunch breaks is correct, yes he is supposed to get two 15 minute breaks and depending on a few diff factors either overtime for anything over 40 hours worked per week or 8 hours perday.

NOW, if he is getting paid cash, this is the way some employers get around this, it's not legal, but they dupe some into thinking it is. Usually in lieu of taking out taxes, but in the end your boyfriend will have to pay those as well.

I thought 30 min lunch was correct? (unless Colorado is different). He should get overtime and I doubt he is exempt or on salary since you have to be paid at least a certain amount a week by law to be on salary. He should defentily get OT though. I would talk to the labor board.

Just type in colorado.gov and you will find links that take you to the state's department of labor. Good luck.

Look at his hours, Your law might only entitle him to work 60 hours per week. I can only legally work 12 hours per day 7 days and im 18.

If he is paid hourly, yes he should get overtime. Check to see if CO has some kind of state oversight agency. I'm in CA and I know they have a Fair Labor Employment something-or-other where you can complain if you aren't paid fairly.

this would desire to be a 50-50 Proposition- in simple terms like a marriage is. And if He says something much less; then you would desire to start searching for a sparkling "organisation..." -AND a much better Boyfriend !! :o
