Get rid of all the programs you don't use.Empty the temp files, cookies, history. Then run a complete antivirus scan.

Also, how old is your computer. If windows 98, I'd seriously consider as newcomputer.

Another option, take it to a computerstore, best buy, for example, will tune it up and it will run like new. It costs a few dollars. if you do this, don't re-load everything that was unloaded.Programs that seem oh, so innocent let spyware into your computer and end up doing more harm than good.

Good luck.

without spending money:
1) defragment ur hard disk
2) delete internet visited files explore
if u use internet explorer u can do that by going to internet properties, then clicking on delete files button
if u havnt done this for a long time and u use internet very much believe me u'll free lots of space more than a gb easily.
3) delete unwanted files on ur hard disk, the old files , or save some space by making cd's of ur data or storing them to external hard drive.
4) disk clean up, u can find it in start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup
hope i have answered ur question!

Do you un-installed & re-installed stuff often? Do you often download files & delete stuff?

You may need to defragment your computer.

If you have a PC, go to "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "Disk Defragmenter".

Then select the proper drive to defrag (the C drive for most computers; mine also has an additional D drive for storage).

Hopefully that helps.

Upgrade RAM first, makes the pc "feel" faster, because it doesn't need to read/write to the hard drive as much... and it's cheaper than a new CPU....

Get rid of all the unnecessary programs by going to add/remove programs. It will tell you what gets used the most and what doesn't. Free up some memory space while you're at it.
