Washing machies last longer with calgon?

I do not know about Calgon, it is a water softner and might help in extending life for a washer. I personally use a Gallon of white vinegar in hot water in the machine once a month.
This disolves the lime and other mineral deposits that collect in the machine and under the agitator.
Calgon water softner will help you use less detergent, though, because soft water takes less detgergent.
White vinegar is also great in the dishwasher --Use 1 cup per load and no soap scum on glasses and the rest of the load also.....plus keeps the mineral deposits out of the dishwasher
