It is fair to ask for some space in a relationship from time to time. Apparently, this is the time your husband wants. Its a shame you can't share your love of football with him. Maybe if you waited for the right moment and explained to him how much the game meant to you, then you could share the experience together. Then he might choose a different time for his personal time.
If not, then make this a time for just you! Go out and watch the game with your friends. Maybe turn it into something special, a girl's day together. It doesn't have to be about football so much for them as it is for you. You get to watch the game, but your girlfriends get to be social. I know it is not the same. Again, a shame your husband has such a narrow view about "game day" being "guy time". Can't you be one of the guys for just one day? But I don't think he really means it (I think its just that he wants some time apart for just a bit, which is normal in any relationship).
Relationships are about compromise. You both have to give a little. I don't have the perfect solution. That's something you both need to work out for yourselves.

I love women who like football. Many women that I know think football is disgusting and a macho sport and never give it a chance. I love the women in my life that have a knowledge of football, because it gives me something to talk to them about. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me if you're a man or a woman, if we can share a decent conversation about the sport that I love then I am perfectly happy. And as I man, while the instinctual side of me do like girly girls, the practical side of me prefers a woman that shares my interests. That's far more important to me. The only downside is that, while I love my football-fan woman, she's a Kansas City fan, an as a Chargers fan I'll always have a problem with that. ;)

Absolutely. What he's saying is that he wouldn't mind having some time with just the guys. This doesn't mean you couldnt watch the game at home (if he's somewhere else) or at a bar, etc. You would be surprised there are more women footbal fans then you think. You might be able to even find a couple you click with and then you can have your own football time.

Honestly, I think its incredible to have a lady in my life that has interest in sports. My fiance now is an avid football fan and I think its great! Ive always wanted someone to go to college games with someone or sit home an watch a game with my significant other. Believe me, finding a sports fanatic in a woman is a very, very rare find! He should be estatic to have you enjoy that part of his life with him.
Heres what you do. Find one of their teams and research the players and the teams results the past couple of years. Next time they are all together, make some snacks or something like that. Walk in the room and say, "hey thats Romo from the cowboys. Thats a great 78 million dollar contract he just signed for 8 years last week (or whatever it was). That game last week against the Patriots would have been a lot closer if...." Or if its Ohio State say, "I sure hope that they dont go to the NC again. I mean, they got humilated once with the Heisman trophy winner and a team of all americans...what makes them think they wont this year?" Put the snacks down, smile and walk out.
The next time you come in the room say something else like "damn, did you see that hit from the strongside backer on that flanker? I guess next time he will think twice about going in that zone." Eventually you will be smiled at and talked to like one of the guys.
But seriously, I truely treasure my lady and her love for the game. She gets so excited and is yelling at the TV at every blown call. Shes sooo much fun and every guy is so jealous that their significant other turns their heads up and walks out of the room when games are on. Believe me, you are a rare treasure that most men wish they had someone like.
I know I did before I met her.

I am a huge football fan too. Its nice to see that there are other women that actually enjoy it and don't just watch it for the hot guys.
About your husband, I'm really not sure what to tell you. Every guy I have ever dated has loved that I like sports and actually know whats going on. I thought most guys were that way.
Like someone else said, take him to a game an he'll see that you really enjoy it and you know whats goin on. He should be happy you want to watch it and aren't nagging him while hes watching it

Of course. Many women are football fans, my wife included.
Also, your husband should be overjoyed that you like the same thing he does.
As a matter of fact, most of my friends wives are big fans too.
We have big football parties at each others houses on the weekends.

Of course you can be a football fan! that's why Reebok came out with a women's sports fan line! I say, next time there's a game on you put on your favorite sports attire and show him you really can be a fan!!

i am sure that he will not mind if you watch the games so long as you don't act like a woman for 3 hours.
there are certain rules and man behavior tha has to be overlooked for 3 hours out of the week while we are watching our favorite team with our boys.
1. farting is allowed and accepted
2.belching is allowed and accepted
3.cursing is allowed and ......you get the picture
4.no flirting with his friends
5.don't say anything crazy, such as "what inning are we in"
6.and feel free to gawk at the cheerleaders, because all the ean will be doing so.
IF YOU can PUT-UP with ALL OF THAT, ENJOY YOURSELF

Hell yeah women can be football fans! what i'm tryna figure out is how come there are no women referees in the NFL??? I think i may have to look into that. But seriously, I love football, but i watch it with my man. We have a little competitive thing we do, it's fun. As for you and your hubby, just bust in on the games eventually he'll be impressed with your knowledge. If he doesn't then start your own little circle of women who love football in your area and have your own gatherings and dont include his butt!!!! lol see how he likes it then!
