Im after a really good old school platforming game like the type you used to get on the 64 and PS1(Mario 64 ,Banjo 1 and 2,Croc,Spyro 1,2 and 3 when I bought an Xbox 360 I didn't realize there were no decent platformers and only one half decent platformer(I know Assassins Creed and Banjo 3 but they aren't out yet and AC isn't a full on platformer).Over all I like my 360 so theres no chance of selling it so I need a second home console I cant afford a Wii or PS3 or even a PS2 and I dont want another Xbox I hate PC controls, so the only 5 3D consoles I can afford are Gamecube,Dreamcast,64,PS1 and Saturn.Im not interested in graphics and with the exception of Zelda on the 64 and Cube Im only interested in getting platformers which console is best for the job and where can I buy it?(Personally Im starting to think 64 Mario,Banjo and Rayman + I could get Zelda and its pretty cheap)

I like 360 more than PS3 in general Halo 3 wipes the floor with Resistance and Killzone,Gears of War is awesome ,Assassins Creed is gonna be on both so is GTA 4 and a bunch of others like Burnout,Prince of Persia and Pro Evo.
In my opinion the only great game coming to PS3 is Drakes Uncharted so 360 is better for me and thanks to some less biased answers 360 and 64 will be great

your way right on buying the Nintendo 64, they have a butt load of plat formers and sequels to most or all of their games. and their mostly fun. especially now most of their games are like 9.99 or less. you can go on a shopping spree!

I don't get it, you own a Xbox 360 but you can't afford a PS2, Wii, or a PS3??

You know what, I've noticed the same thing about the Xbox 360 for a very long time. Microsoft doesn't have any really decent platform games. All the 360 really has is a bunch of exclusive shooters.

I have a 60GB PS3, and even though you said that you couldn't afford one, you should save you money to buy a PS3. If you get the 60GB or 80GB PS3 you can play old PS1 and PS2 games that you've missed out on.

The best console for platform games is the PS3 or any of the Sony consoles hands down, the Xbox 360 is only good for multiplayer and First Person Shooters.

Have you played any of the Prince of Persia games? I think that they're pretty good platformers.

Really, if you're that much of a platforming fan, you should consider getting a Genesis or SNES. 3D platformers are nowhere near as good as 2D platformers. All of the Sonic games on the Sega Genesis are absolutely amazing. It'll take a loooong time for you to be bored with them.

Try Crash Bandicoot and Sonic. Cheap and fun

You can either go for a N64 or maybe a Genesis. I would suggest both, since you can pick up BOTH for a very cheap price

I agree. You should definitely get an N64 if you want to play some great platformers. You can usually find them used behind the counter at places like Gamestop, Gamecrazy or your local pawnshop.
