I realize that this was/is a relatively secretive society and aspect of thinking... Despite this fact, I am curious as to see if anyone knows of any decent sources that I could use to further my studies on the matter (books, accredited websites, etc.).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this one:
"The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind." by Julian Jaynes.

I seem to remember some addressing of the "Pythagoreans" in his own unique way.

Probably not as secret as you think. Most Gnostic societies have their roots in Pythagoreanism or Platonism.
