I did well in school. It would have been a waste of my talent for learning to not pursue more education. I am most happy that I went and did learn about subjects I would not have encountered otherwise.

Looking back, it never occured to me not to go to college, and I didn't realize that was unusual at the time. Both my parents went to college, and always made comments about "when you go to college . . ." so it never occured to me to do anything else.
Now that I am older and more aware of the priviledges I have had in life, I realize how lucky I was! And I am grateful beyond words for the opportunities it gave me. I have a job I love, working in higher education which I never would have known about had I not gone to college. I am much more aware of the opportunities that were available to me because I went to college. These were life changing things such as study abroad, life long friends, exposure to a career, and an education that no one can take away from me. I know I can speak, read, analyze, problem solve, and communicate with the knowledge I have. College also forced me to step outside my comfort zone socially and see things from other perspectives. I am not so quick to make assumptions and jump to conclusions as I once was. It helped raise my awareness of my own personal biases which is really healthy.
I think one of the reasons I had such a positive experience was that I went to a small residential liberal arts college. I was never a number, and couldn't be anonymous if I tried. I had to be accountable for all I did and said, and probably learned as much outside the classroom as in. A truly amazing experience I wish I could give to everyone!

Everyone expected me to go to University, it was just the thing to do.
I like to learn, too, so that had a lot to do with it.
As for my choice of where I attented University... I chose somewhere far enough from home that I had to move out. I wanted to have a good time partying away from my family (and that I did!)

I wanted to improve my musical skills, but the core(non-musical) stuff is killing me. Wish I hadn't signed up, now.
