If two prospective parents both have siblings who had a recessive genetic disorders, what is the chance that they would have a child who inherits the disorder?

If they each have a sibling with a recessive disorder, the their parents must all be heterozygous. Since those two prospective parents are not affected by the disorder, they each have a 2/3 chance of being a carrier. So, they probability that they are both carriers is 2/3 X 2/3 or 4/9. Given that, 1/4 of their offspring would be affected, so the overall probability is 2/3 X 2/3 X 1/4 = 1/9
