7 girls
49 backpacks
343 big cats
2,401 little cats

For the girls: 7 x 2 = 14 legs
For the big cats: 343 x 4 = 1,372 legs
For the little cats: 2,401 x 4 = 9,604 legs

Total = 10,990 legs

Or if you count the bus driver... 10,992 legs

- There are 7 girls on a bus
7x2 = 14 legs ----> each girl has 2 legs, and there are 7 girls

- Each girl has 7 backpacks
7x7 = 49 backpacks (there are 7 girls, each with 7 backpacks)

- In each backpack, there are 7 big cats
49x7 = 343 big cats (49 backpacks, with 7 big cats for each backpack)

343x4 = 1,372 legs (343 big cats, each having 4 legs)

- For every big cat there are 7 little cats
343x7 = 2,401 little cats (343 big cats, each with 7 little cats)

2,401x4 = 9,604 legs (2,401 little cats, each with 4 legs)

Number of legs = 14 + 1,372 + 9,604
Number of legs = 10,990 legs

If you include the bus driver, you add 2 legs to the above figure. So, you have:

Number of legs = 10,992 legs
