-2(2)/2 + 1/2 = -4/2 + 1/2 = -3/2

-2 + 1/2 =
= - ( 2 - 1/2) =
= - (4/2-1/2) =
= - 3/2
that is 1.5

-2 + 1/2 = -1.5

first you can convert the fraction into a decimal if you dont like fractions. With this one it is easier with decimals.
Then you just add -2 and .5

Unless we're talking about quantum mechanical levels, you can add any two fractions, each of the form a/b, like so:
a1/b1 + a2/b2 = [(a1*b2)+(a2*b1)]/(b1*b2)
In this case a1 = -2, b1 = 1, a2 = 1, b2 = 2. So, the answer is -1.5.
