I think everybody should cut this man a little slack. That's why we are all here is to find things out. To him that was probably the obvious thing that stuck out. My explanation to his question is, now this my opinion, dating back there were god and goddess artifacts. The fertility goddess had thick hips and thick thighs, big breasts thick stomach. Alot of women would pray to look like these goddesses. Because what better way to help out your tribe or community grow by putting out children left and right. I have attached a link to a picture of one of the fertility goddess. We learned about her in our art appreciation class.

I have not found that to be true. There are a wide variety of body types and sizes within Wicca and Paganism, just as with Christianity and other religions.
And.....Physically unappealing to whom? Just because someone is not mainstream media's "ideal" woman that is a bad thing?!? Do you even look at the beauty within a woman?
Look at the history books, mythology....take a real good look at what was considered beautiful over the ages. You will find it is not the anorexic looking models of today but many saw the robust woman as beautiful.
Many Wiccans, and pagans associate themselves as a goddess because they are a physical embodiment of The Divine Feminine. "I am a Goddess and my body is a temple."

Ok first of all I don't call myself goddess. I'm not. I HONOR the goddess AND the gods. I am also not Wiccan or anythng close to Wiccan. I am Asatru, but not the point.
I am going to be conceited as hell here and go off a few judgements I have gotten from male friends of mine.
I am far from unattractive. And I am far from fat. I do still have ten pounds to get off from my twins but other that, I'm doing all right. I have been refered to as a MILF, and a wet dream recently. Now while I am no super model, I don't think being "unattractive" would get those responses. Now this is just me. I'm not even talking about all the other pagan friends on I have, one was a stripper and let's just say I bet she made a **** load of money.
I repeat bwhahahahahahahahah
Reigan's so hot she's red ;)

Well, I don't belong to any coven or have ever been to a pagan circle, but I'm dumb right interested in Goddesses and Mythology, and I've been a dancer since I was seven and I'm pretty thin... that's a ridiculous comment in my opinion. And if an overweight woman want to believe she's a goddess, then by all mean honey, flunt it..

Physically unappealing to whom? Until I found a Pagan path, I was looked upon as "unattractive". In Pagan circles, I have felt more acceptance and less focus on whether I am an example of mainstream media's "ideal" woman. I am a Goddess and my body is a temple, but you don't have to worship there.

Well, one of the things we stress is that we are all equal in the eyes of the goddess and that we all have worth and are special. I imagine that's particularly appealing to those who have to deal with people always calling them chunky and unappealing or otherwise criticising their weight.

A) Chunky women may be physically unappealing to you, but not to everyone. Don't assume everyone likes the same people you do.
B) You obviously don't know too many Wiccans or you'd see that they come in all shapes, sizes and ages.
C) My Goddess gave birth to your God. :-)

Well, this may come as a shock, but most girls are chubby and unappealing. The pagan world just reflects the whole world, dude.

Have you ever attended a Pagan Circle?
If you had, you wouldn't be making such a ridiculous statement.
Like the greater world outside, Wicca attracts all types and kinds of people. Much the same as your average Christian church.

I am into the ancient classical pantheon though I am not a worshipper, but I have never noticed that Wiccans are overweight. Maybe you don't know many.
