Obviously you have a ponytail for a specific reason; we all make image choices because there are certain things we want to be associated with. Maybe you are rebellious, maybe you like heavy rock, maybe you play RPG's, whatever. So is there another, shorter haircut that you could get that would also, or better, represent you to the world?
Your ponytail has one problem, which is that it is not particularly well pulled back -- it looks a bit messy. I like it, but i think you would do better to pull it back more neatly. You are by no means unattractive.
Also, just from a purely female point of view, hair that's way too short is MUCH worse than hair that's way too long. Long hair can at least look just cute or unkempt. Too-short hair makes one look like a military rapist or something.
Anyway, your hair looks healthy and fine, so you can probably get any number of haircuts, if you can find one that you feel matches your image. I like the first one listed below, but the second one is terrible and greasy-looking.
Final advice: when having hair that could even remotely be described as long, AVOID GREASINESS. Even if it is frizzy, it is better to have frizzy hair than greasy hair. Please trust me on this. Not that your hair looks bad; in fact, you look very clean and pleasant. :)

Why would you change anything? Take the path of the lord and let your natural hair grow..... How would you like to be famous in the future that you have the longest mail hair in thee USA.

No! Long hair is sexy. Unless you have a high profile job like lawyer or something then keep it. You're lucky you are a guy and have a face for long hair.
