Hi, Can you tell me what a normal 7 month old babies poo is supposed to be like? He eats about 30 oz of formula a day and eats 1-2 times a day of fruit, veggies or rice cereal and has been since he was 5 months. But the past few weeks his poo is more formed and solid and shaped, not like before when it used to be just a big bunch of muck. He goes every other day. Does this mean he is constipated or is this normal. I am confused because everyone says different thing. What does it sound like to you. Poo is usually soft and not hard balls, he had those before too.

As long as its not hard balls its fine.
His digestive system grows and changes, as he develops and gains new microbes, which means he digests his food better, resulting in firmer stool.
If you're concerned, give him a little extra fruit or water. But as it is, its normal for a babies poop to change from time to time.

As a baby eats more and more solid food, there poo will become more like "grown up poo" It's normal.

If his BM is hard and dry and he is straining and uncomfortable, he is constipated. That does not sound to be the case.
With 30 ounces of formula, sounds like he is getting plenty of fluids to keep everything status quo. The fact that he is not going every day is allowing more water absorption in his intestines, making his BM more formed. Sounds a-ok to me.

I don't think it's of huge concern. Talk to your pediatrician. Both of my babies had bowel movements atleast once if not twice a day at that age but it could be that everyone is different (even little ones) If he's happy and doesn't seem uncomforatable I wouldn't worrie too much.

I've seen all sizes, shapes, colors and consistencies with my two kids. It's not a problem unless he seems to be in pain when passing. If so, give him more fruit (except bananas which can stop you up). And more whole grain, less rice.
But if he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, there's no problem.

He is growing and changing. You might want to put some whole grains in his diet. Feed him brown rice that has been cooked extra soft....some hummus....smash some brown / black beans....give him a little roughage... I made my own baby food. Try some squash...it's a great time of the year for it. Just roast it in the oven and then scoop out the cooked squash... waahllaahh...baby food.

Their poo changes as they take more solid foods. Unless its hard and dry or looks like coffee grounds, don't worry. And by the way, a word of motherly advice....if the poo is ever florescent green....its from fruit loops. (scared me silly with my first.)

it varies! if u feel he's not pooing enough push water! and sometimes a bit of diluted juice. some parents are against juice before a certain age but if you dilute it down his system can handle it!
