I hope you're joking because this question is so preposterous I almost decided not to dignify it with an answer. This myth has been perpetrated by right-wing fundamentalist nut cases for years and it never has been true and never will be. Just because certain people don't want government money spent to set up Christian religious displays on government property while insensitively excluding all other religions, that does NOT mean that anyone will ever question your right to do whatever you want to do in your own home and church. Unless you're brain-dead, you already know this and it infuriates me that people like you keep trying to make a political issue of something that's pure fiction and hysteria. Some people are actually stupid enough to vote on the basis of this reprehensibly baseless propaganda, and that's what gets mindless idiots like Bush elected.
[edit]
I just read James' answer. This was reported by the Sun, one of the most notoriously fictitious supermarket tabloids in the world, and you believe it?????? Worse yet, someone is criticizing another answerer for not reading this garbage -- which isn't fit for anything but lining bird cages and wrapping fish -- as "research" before answering!!!!! I'm starting to think maybe there should be an IQ test required before people are allowed to vote. It's tragic that this kind of stupidity is allowed to influence our elections.

Christmas was illegal in America in the past. I doubt it will ever be that way again as the commercial interests won't allow that to happen. Whether one buys Christmas gifts, Channukah gifts or whether Christmas is celebrated as a religous or secular holiday it will remain. I really don't care if someone says happy holidays or Merry Christmas as long as they are nice about it. As far as imigrants settling into our country I don't see the connection with getting rid of Christmas. The immigrants most of us encounter or think about are from accross our Southern border. People of Latin America are Christians and celebrate Christmas. The few immigrants who have come here from non-Christian places love the secular aspects of the holiday. The food, gift giving and joy that the holiday brings can be enjoyed by all, and usually is. Peronally I think much too much is being made of the whole issue.

It will never happen. There are minority and ethnic festival celebrations all through the year. Everyone is free to celebrate their special celebrations.
Besides, everyone likes Christmas and Hallowe'en because its fun for kids. (Wrong reasons or not).
Christmas is now a major deal in many non-Christian countries because it is good for the economy and is considered romantic!Christmas is Capitalism's Last Stand!
More money is spent at Christmas time than any other, so the government can't afford to get rid of it.
I wish they would though, it has become a total farce.

It's a wind-up.
The last time Christmas was abolished in this country was under teh command of Oliver Cromwell.
Nowadays, Christmas is a hugely commercial event with a lot of money and profits tied up in it.
As the government relies heavily on money from commerce and businesses, they would effectively be biting the hand that feeds them if they were to ban christmas.
Besides, how would they enforce it?
Would they kick down the doors of every house displaying a christmas tree in the window?
Would the arrest people who buy turkeys and gift wrapping paper?
How would they stop you from celebrating something that you want to celebrate in the comfort and privacy of your own home?
I think someone has been pulling your leg mate.

Never gonna happen. If the statistics are correct, too many businesses make between 40% - 66% of their yearly revenue on that holiday so big businesses like Wal-Mart and Best-Buy will lobby hard to prevent any holiday getting the boot! You know it's all about $$$ and nothing to do about religion - right !?!

Well since most of the immigrants come from Eastern Europe and celebrate Christmas, I think this one is a no-brainer even for the thickest BNP aficionado.

It is happening more every day the government is more worried about people from other countries feeling comfortable in our country than the actual Americans. It is no wonder terrorists are having a free for all.
