I actually remember that, but barely. What I really remember is reading, about 10 years after that, a piece by the great humorist Lewis Grizzard on the subject of that fateful fishing trip and the killer bunny that attacked Carter. I can still just picture the secret service trying not to laugh. Haven't thought of that in years. Thanks for the chuckles!

Government Cheese during the Reagan Era according to wikipedia:
Government cheese, or "Pasteurized Process American Cheese for Use in Domestic Programs" was cheese that was provided to welfare and food stamp recipients in the United States through the 1980s, and commonly associated with Reaganomics, and was commonly used in military chow halls and commissaries since WWII. These came in large blocks of presliced cheese, generally in one-pound boxes that featured very generic markings indicating the contents with no branding. The cheese was considered very good quality as it had to meet Grade A standards for milk and cheese content.
The cheese line to receive government cheese was generally over an hour long in wait, and government cheese is considered by many to be a superior type of cheese.[1][2]
The cheese was bought and stored by the government's Commodity Credit Corporation. Direct distribution of dairy products began in 1982 under the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program of the Food and Nutrition Service. According to the government, it "slices and melts well."[3]
In the United States the term is also used, often derisively, to describe monetary government assistance given to those who are in need of financial help; a person receiving such aid is said to "live on Government Cheese.[citation needed]"
In the current era, the USDA provides a subsidized food program for specific classes of foods in the United States known as the Women, Infants and Children program.

Once Again.......
Seriously are you upset with the man (President Carter) because he is:
-Brilliant?
-Rich?
-Generally well liked?
-A person who actually "Walks his Talk"?
-Religious?
-He actually served his country unlike "W" and Cheney?
Or does his general success simply intimidate you.....
a shrink might help....

Ha! I had forgotten about the infamous "Paws" attack. Pity no one had video of Jimmy pounding the rabbit with a boat oar!
If he had only been just as tough on Iranians!

Obsessions like yours are actually fetishes... Please look up "fetish" in the dictionary and go to a psychologist and talk to him about this before you hurt someone.
