I've tried everything. I tied their little feet together with string, but they couldn't walk or swim well and it seemed to make the problem worse, rather than keep them in a row.

Show them a picture of Chuck Norris. (I've been answering a lot of your questions with Chuck Norris lately, haven't I?) They'll be so scared that they will get in a row all by themselves.

I like the Chuck Idea. Tell them that if they don't stay in a row like good little ducks, that you will get Chuck to come deal with them. That should scare them into a row.

You could also tell them the you will trade them in on the Aflac Duck.

A row of very small cages always worked best for me. And, as they grow, they turn into square ducks!

Hot glue natural earth magnets to their front and back. Make sure the polarities are reversed, or they won't stick together properly.
