If you decided not to give your answer, why not?

I do that sometimes. If someone gave a better answer than I could, then I wouldn't answer. Or if I thought my answer wasn't very smart, then I wouldn't give it.

Yes,
sometimes the subject matter is far more serious than I anticipated, and my flippant offhand remarks and answers would be of no help, and only increase the chaff to wheat ratio unfavorably.

And sometimes someone has so clearly outclassed all the other answers, or given a far better one than I could come up with.

I'll skip a Question if someone else has already beat me to it *completely* in terms of having the whole entire thing I *was* going to type. -_- Sometimes you can add more and elaborate, sometimes not.

And....if a Question is *too huge already* I'll skip it more often than not. Meaning, what's the point again of answering something with ten plus *pages* of answers when you know for a fact that a) It will take a month-plus for the parties involved to even "pick" a Best Answer, and b) that the odds of your own answer being *seen*, never mind *picked*, are slim to none with slim being out of town?

Really. I used to be into the Big Honking Questions, one or two *might* get my attention on occasion even now, but for the most part...no. I have no chance in hell of getting a Best Answer on those, because I *actually have* an opinion or two folks will most likely disagree with, and when the Best Answer is picked by a committee, well, you know....they can't *have that*. It's got to be The Big Bland Non-Answer That Offends No One (tm) and Makes Everyone Look Spiffy (tm).

Which is sad. You'd think these multi-billion dollar companies (like Yahoo Inc., PopTech, etc.) would *have* a thicker skin, seeing as how they're the ruin of all that's good in life, you know? ^_^

Oh well, what can you do? ^_~ Have a star!

Oh but of course, .. then I wonder why.

Sometimes, it was because the answers given were covering all of the bases & I would hate to add more & possibly confuse an already confused person :->
Sometimes, it is because the question was not what I expected it to be, for example, if I thought I had an answer, but suddenly it didn't apply to the question, or because I know that the asker will not take what I have to say the right way. Like, if I know that they are ALWAYS judgmental & close-minded, I just might not want to tell them what I think.
Sometimes, it's simply because I already answered a very similar question & would rather not repeat myself all day. :->

So, I then just move on to the next question that seems interesting. Like this one!

Yes - I tend to over explain everything so if I answered every question I had an answer to I would get nothing else accomplished - Sometimes I think I can make it short so I open it up but then I realize I am just droning on and on and want to save the dear readers in here some valuable time....and sanity...

Yes, I've done this many times.

Sometimes it's because I've read through the answers already given and someone else has said exactly what I would have said. Sometimes it's because I think the person isn't going to like what I have to say and I don't feel like inviting trolls to plague me.

Sometimes I realize that the question or issue just plain bores me and I don't want to be bothered.

Back when I had limits I would be choosy about the questions I answered. Sometimes I would read the details and decide I didn't like it for whatever reason. Now if I bother to click it, I answer it.

Yes. Sometimes my answer was already given. Other times I know that I would get a violation so I decide I had better NOT answer it, lol.

Yes. Often to say something funny, but decided the answer wasn't funny out of context. Cheekiness doesn't always translate well in print/text.

Haha... yea all the time, because I'm still in the levels where I have limited number of questions I can answer.
