it all depends on the situation and where they are going.... of course the postal car would be last in any situation, even if he went first, he would have to pull over to let the vehicles with lights and sirens pass.... if it is something that involves violence, the police should go first, because they have to secure the scene before anyone else can enter... so even if the other vehicles got there first, they would have to wait... if they are all at an intersection with red/green lights, it is whoever has the green light goes first.... if it is a wreck, the ambulance should go first, then fire, then police.... but when you think about it, does it really matter?? if they are all going to the same place, they will all get there within seconds of each other... this is my own opinion... to read others, here are two sites....

This assumes a 4 way stop sign, not a signal, and not a 2 way or an uncontrolled intersection.

Assuming none of them are traveling code 3, lights and siren, the one to the right. If they arrived at exactly the same time, the one with the whatever to start would go first. If any one of them are traveling code 3, the ones with lights and sirens would go first once the intersection was clear.

And it has nothing to do with "Postal is federal, and the others are city."

This is actually an urban legend. No the postal truck does not have the right of way as expressed in the myth. Your proof lies in state revised statutes as they relate to emergency vehicles and a link to the site snopes.com is below for further proof.

The only vehicle that truly has the right of way over a fire truck blazing down a street? How about a school bus with its red lights and flashers on? You better believe the school bus wins that one!

First of all, I don't know why a money truck would be using a siren. And even if it were, money isn't that important, it can wait. I had a money truck not yield to my lights and sirens once, let's just say the driver was lucky he wasn't fired. As far as the other three, I'd probably go in order of speed/agility. Cop first, then ambulance, then firetruck.

This was brought up in a Defensive Driving course I took. According to the instructor, the Postal vehicle is Federal and has priority, then the firetruck because they would be saving more lives, then the ambulance and then the police. He also stated that a postman in his right mind would yield to any emergency vehicle. A friend of mine is a postman and has refused to drive the "box type" trucks because the view of the rear is bad. He says they now get suspended for accidents in Govt vehicles when at fault. Personally, the emergency vehicles have the right of way.

The postal vehicle has to yield to the police/ambulance/fire vehicles.

Assuming that the emergency dispatchers haven't already figured it out before the vehicles got to the intersection, and that all of the emergency vehicles have their lights/sirens on going to an emergency, using the rule of yielding to the vehicle on your right, whichever vehicle is left of the postal vehicle will go first, then the vehicle to the left of it, then the remaining emergency vehicle, and lastly the postal vehicle.
