Chivalry is dead because it is based on paternalism, which is a facet of "patriarchy". Paternal behaviour has been associated with oppression and sexual perversion by feminism. Add to this that women have been DEMANDING independence and being offended when "patronised" or simply due to not requiring chivalry milking it for what it is worth and not being in the slightest bit grateful and you have men that are not only PUNISHED for chivalry but don't particularly care to "take care of" women either. When feminists complain about chivalry they are complaining about the successful results of feminism - therefore being so contradictory that they cannot make up their minds about anything and frankly proving they aren't competent enough decision makers to vote. EDIT: No. You are responsible. The moment you say you are a "strong competent woman" you opt out of needing chivalry at the same time as you failed to realise you need adult supervision (although it seems like you need adult supervision because you can't take responsibility, ironically).

When I worked at a department store and needed to play dead for the day, I would call and ask for any male manager I thought might be on, and mysteriously - not too dramatically, now - say I had a "female situation" or "domestic situation". They don't want to ask what that means.
I know, shady, right? I never got called out for it and that's what matters.
Good luck and have a kick-**** day!

you callup and youwhine in your best sickly sounding voice, "i'm siiiiick. I'm siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick."
then, if your boss is a guy tell him you have the worst cramps ever and you think it's because of all the clotting this time around. He won't ask for anymore details and you can go back to bed and get yourself feeling better.

If it's a girlboss , try the ole Diarrhea ploy. if i was your boss, i wouldn't ask for anymore details concerning that, either.

not that I'D ever do that, mind you .

I haven't yet but thanks for reminding me to call work! If you need an excuse here's some: a pipe in your home burst and you need to take care of that, you found out you're pregnant and need to find out who the father is, you have an extremely bad toothache from halloween candy and need an emergency dental appt., or the classic -you have the flu!

oops I read your message wrong. I thought you meant call in the dead. Yes i've done that but never called in dead to work. I think they'd get suspicious cos dead people can't use phones. Try astral messenging next time that works.

Don't bother calling - just enjoy the rest of the day. Go in tomorrow and act natural. If they say anything INSIST you told them on Wed. that you were gonna be out today. ♥

tell your boss you have a bad case of the werewolf... whenever you see the glow of a full computer screen during the afternoon, you you get an uncontrollable urge howl into day and cause mischief in the employee break room...

Tell them your power went out and your alarm clock didn't go off. Then tell them you have to wait at home for the electrician to come to fix the problem.
