With a progressive, forward-thinking administration the country can get on the right track. The biggest threat to the USA is the twin economic and environmental disasters of rising sea levels and exhaustion of fossil fuels.
Without implementing a rigorous program to conserve energy and reduce emissions - along with insisting that the rest of the world do the same - our coastal cities will start to experience seasonal flooding in 10-15 years. Without a viable replacement for fossil fuels, our entire country will grind to a halt.

Two big questions whose answer will determine where American stands in the next ten years are how we handle our involvement in the middle east and how we handle global warming and our dependence on foreign oil. If we successfully address these issues, I think America will continue to be the beacon of freedom and prosperity for the rest of the world.

A lot of our real estate and corporations will be Chinese owned.... We won't notice it in the sense that it will be in our face but our policies will favor Chinese landowners and corporations (and they will barely, if at all, help pay medical insurance premiums) that will own the lobbyists.
We will also have a long recession before that time or during because we will have to start paying for this war. Who ever is in the presidency will be hated as a result (no matter that it wasn't his/her fault).

Assuming current growth rates continue, it will take 24 years for the GDP - per capita (PPP) of China to catch the USA.
I'm not sure how long, however, China can continue an 11% GDP rate of growth.

As a native Maniac, I was interested in num1accent01's response.
That being said, I see America in 10 years in the same place it is today . . . between Canada and Mexico.

Sitting right between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. That's where she'll be in 10 years.
Oh, and there will be a bunch of liberally indoctrinated, global warming mushbrained adults living here if we continue to allow our educational system to teach what it's teaching.
