I am from Mexico and can't get used to having 40w light bulbs at home. I feel so depressed by coming to my flat and having almost no light at all. So I have been looking to get brighter lights and came up with the fact that regular light bulbs are going extinct. Can someone explain to me why this is, besides environmental factors. What are the kinds of light bulbs there are out there, and which is the brightest one I can find.
Thanks

The micro-halogens (the funny looking twisty-bulbs) produce a LOT more light than the old regular ones (and are more energy efficient)... but, if you're determined to use the traditional light bulbs - 100watt ones ARE still available.
Check your local hardware store...

Most light shades can only take the heat from a max 60w, most ceiling lights have more than one light on it so 100w is not required. As 3+ lights with 100w bulbs would be too bright!

Look for CFL bulbs (Compact Fluorescent Bulbs). They are are funny shaped tubular bulbs. A 20 watt bulb puts out the same amount of light as a 75 watt incandescent bulb. Guess you don't have Walmart there. I just bought 100 watt bulbs there for my chicken brooder because I needed the heat. Don't put 100 watt bulbs in unless you are sure the fixture is rated for them. It will cause a fire.

Where are you living? I am in Seattle, WA and most any store that sells light bulbs has 100W bulbs. If they really are hard to find there, you might try a hardware store.

I get 100w lightbulbs at the local Dollar Tree, but that of course, is in the United States. I have a UV light (it's used for sewing and crafts) and it is wonderfully bright! Some doctors even reccommend these types of lights to patients with depression. They are sort of costly, but well worth it. You can pick these up at your local crafst store for around $130 USD.

100 w? my i'd hate to see what ur electric bill looks like! try those new (not really new, been around awhile) flourescent bulbs, they're twisty looking and they shed tons of light and they to come in different sizes as well as wattage! they r great and they use 75% less energy than those regular bulbs! out bill was a $100.00 less this month! imagine the savings! warning, they are quite pricey compared to the regular bulbs but they last forever and you make up for it inthe savings of ur electric bill!

most bulbs are now being replaced with low energy bulbs but here in UK we have no problem getting 100 w bulbs.

Just look for some halogen bulbs, they're usually pretty bright.
