The wise Elisabeth Hasselback (of The View) said that she didn't want friends, she wants to be safe! This administration has convinced certain dense individuals that the US doesn't need allies because they are on a quest to keep us safe! There is no doubt in my mind that the US is alienating the rest of the world and it's going to be very important that the next administration works to repair that. Unfortunately, the Republican party and conservatives are using this against the Dem's by stating that they want to just go "sit down and talk nice" with the "terrorists." The Republicans are good at clouding the American people with nonsense, and non-issues that don't really matter, like Gay Marriage and abortion. If two men or women get married, or if a woman has an abortion, it will not effect my life one bit. Alienating the rest of the world from us does.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, it does appear that the current administration is doing its best to do just that and, although it may appear worse then it has ever been, the United States has, throughout its history, done such.
The "rugged, me first, I'm the best" brand of individualism that helped to create this country is rapidly dong it in and destroying it, mixed with unstoppable greed, rabid consumerism and ammoral to immoral outlook and manners.
We have seldom reasoned as a people that working with others in the manner of mutual cooperation and interdependence is usually more effective than sword rattling, gun boat diplomacy and out right invasion of other nations.
The current administration seem "hell bent" on starting World War III in the Middle East while trying to cover their ridiculous actions and stupidity by saying that "they started it" as the world watches us condemm one nation for the very things we are assisting another nation in doing. Remember, Egypt was a member of the former United Arab League which vowed to destroy Israel. They are now building nuclear reactors to "produce" energy and we are helping them. We are condemming Iran for doing the same on their own and, sadly the American people seem stupid enough to swallow this load of hog swill that Bush and Cheney are handing out.
We have alienated another ally whom we need (i.e., Turkey) just as we have aleinated France, Germany, Italy, Japan, India, China, Russia, etc., etc., etc.
When the rest of the world finally gets sick of our "bullying " tactics and calls in our huge international debt, this nation will crumble and we will only have ourselves to blame.
Ma'a salaam.

It sure looks that way. And we're only now beginning to see the *trees* of this forest, in that we see how the whole "allies/keep us safe" split is actually screwing us over.
Now here's the view of the forest.
--We're building fences along the U.S./Mexican border, but not really doing much about illegal immigrants per se, as such.
--We've passed some of the most bank-friendly, bill-collector friendly and consumer *hostile* bankruptcy laws that have been on the books, since the 19th century.
--We've outsourced every *last* good job overseas and now really only have *service sector* work left. That is, hourly-wage work with *zero benefits* down on that Wal-Mart Plantation.
--We have a "President" here who is perfectly willing to grant the Iraqis a "nationalized health care" system, but absolutely refuses to do so *even for his own nations Children*. Proven facts. G.W. Bush and Cheney are *downright socialist*, but only if you're an Arab or an Iraqi who wants to *see us dead*.
--We keep having inflation rise, deficits rise, trade imbalances with China and others rise, in spite of stagnation in terms of job growth.
Are we seeing the bigger picture yet?
Those fences aren't there to keep Mexicans out.
They are there to keep *Americans In*. They are there to keep ordinary American citizens, of a non-company, non-corporate bent, from leaving the nation once there are no more jobs and the Bankruptcy laws force defacto Indentured Servitude to pay off *the Rich Man's* second-hand debts.
Edit: And I'd also say that if we piss off the whole world around us, yes, they will *want us* to be confined as well. Duh. Not to mention, the situation makes it harder for ordinary people to look outward *and even imagine* that life could be different from this, never mind better. Which is what the Companies want. They want us to believe that their agenda is *inevitable and invincible*.
Say it isn't so? Ask yourself this one. Why *did* so many of the poor and working poor hurricane Katrina survivors from New Orleans get *sent to Texas*, specifically? Why? It can't be that Texas was all that close because for the most part, it isn't--Alabama is closer, so is Arkansas
I'd humbly submit that the hurricane survivors were sent to Texas, specifically, because *that state* was in a bigger state of Ruin By Design, than even Louisiana was. Basically they were sent to the one place *least likely* to be able to afford to help out.....and the one place *least willing* to help out as well.
It was a punishment, and possibly a political indoctrination as well.
And that's what the Companies, your One Percenters, have in mind for *America itself* down the road. Punishment and indoctrination. But to pull it off, they need more and *bigger* reasons to put Ordinary Citizens Under Lockdown.
For that they need to keep us on that Plantation. That's the forest.
(and if you're spotting the trees....well, you'd think the message would be to Get Out While You Can, right?)
Thanks for your time. -_- And god have mercy on us, because we sure don't seem to have any for each other.

It's very true. We are certainly not the respected power-house we used to be before Bush became President. So how has he been good for this country? Not in one area has he helped America. That's why he will go down in history as the worst President we've ever had.

UNITED STATES what is the first thoughts that comes to your head when you hear this name.
"Racist country towards non-americans", "Richest country in the world", "Most independent country".
These are the peoples opinions around the world.
Many people hate this country, others dream of coming to this country and increasing their financial incomings.

No. What we are doing is forcing the people of other nations do demonstrate where they really stand.
Look at our past history with Turkey. They have constantly made demands of us but never lifted an hand on our behalf.
They are just showing their true colors - and we should remember this the next time they want something from us.

We're getting pretty dang close. That's what happens when a treasonous "supreme" court invalidates an election and installs an alcoholic, drug-addled sociopath in the White House.
