When you're dealing with Asian-owned Asian restaurants, only the really high-end places (Mission 261, Triumphal Palace) will have decent service. Everything else, you have to hope for the best. And god help you if you don't speak whatever language is spoken there. I'm Thai, and they totally shun me in Chinese restaurants 'cause I don't speak a lick of Chinese. Pan-ethnically speaking, service is not part of what we call "manners and etiquette."

Pho 79 in Alhambra on Garfield Ave. @ Main St. Best pho in town, seriously.

The San Gabriel Valley is pretty large in area. Lots of places to go. The best imho is in Santa Ana and Westminister.

If you go Rosemead area, there is a pho restaurant next to the 888 Seafood Restaurant that is pretty good, located on Valley Blvd. Forgot the name of the place though.

Below is a link with future discussion about what is good in the San Gabriel Valley.
