Hi, I need to buy a new printer at an affordable price. I need one that will print on thick card and has auto duplex (2 sided printing). Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you want to print on thick card you're going to have problems finding a duplexing printer.

I used a Lexmark inkjet to print on 200gsm card... which was really the limit of what it could handle. The sheet feeder didn't work at that weight card... I had to single-feed the sheets. At that weight, no duplexer I have seen would cope as they all roll the paper round fairly tight bends to turn it over. You can't bend 200gsm card like that, it creases.

Your best bet is to look for a printer with as straight a paper path as you can find and 'duplex' it by printing one side then manually refeeding the card to print the other side.

HP inkjets won't work... too tight bends in the paper path. the same is true of HP laserjets I've worked with.

Lexmark inkjets (top load, front eject) will do 200gsm... but that really is their limit.

Have a look at the printers available in your market and check the paper path and how straight it is. Ask the shops what the maximum weight material their printers can print on.

Otherwise you will have to buy a big industrial printer... if that's the market you are in, don;t ask here! Get in contact with printing companies and talk to their sales teams.

Never seena printer that can auto duplex more than 90gsm paper.

U need something witha flat paper path, manual duplex is best bet.

Also you don't state what type of printing you need to do. If you need A3 size you need a much bigger or better printer
