Well Actually Game's 2nd Album Has Sold 2 Million Copies since its release
Banks didn't have a Big "Buzz" Like He Did With his first album remember at the time G-Unit Was The Biggest Thing in Hip Hop His Song On Fire Was On of The Biggest Summer Songs in 2004 and it was a big hit it was # 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 his 2nd Album Didn't Have A "Buzz" Like His First Album His Lead Single " Hands Up" Didn't Nearly Get Enough Play As "On Fire and G-Unit Was Not As Popular as it was when hunger for more was Released plus his album kept getting pushed back cause his singles were not as well received as his first album
And i Also thought about Bootlegging and albums getting leaked , and people downloading that may well be another reason why albums aren't selling as well as they were a few years ago

It's because they all went platinum on their first album of that record deal. It's always going to boil down to what type of music sells the most. If the artist would focus on quality not quantity they would go platinum everytime. If a person puts out a double disc cd there might be 5 - 7 good quality songs on each disc. If a person puts out a single cd with 16 - 21 songs on it, 75 - 80% of the songs have to be above average or exceptional to be a multiplatinum album.
Then there's my "Theory of Greatness". There are some rappers who are great lyrically but their voice just doesn't match. There are rappers who are well below the standard, who have the voice and charisma, but their lyrics lack substance. They are more marketable in the mainstream than they ever will be on underground rap.
Rap has changed over the years, you use to have to be exceptional to get your song played on the radio. Now all you need is the right person to make a beat for you and it doesn't matter what's being said because; "the beat is tight."
As for me I want quality not quantity. Hope that answered your question.

When these people sign, they obligate for a certain amount of work. Tours, albums, promotional gigs, etc. The record company will hold them to that contract.
Doesn't matter if you suck or not.
