She has a white remnants of milk on her tongue and I am afraid it will rot and cause damage to her.

Just let her be. It's probably just milk mouth. If it is still there an hour or more after she eats you may want to ask your pedi. After a few weeks, if you really want to, you can wipe out her mouth every once in a while with a clean cloth-water only. I wouldn't do it every time she eats though. There are good bacterias that need to build up in her mouth to help fight the bad ones.

If its still there after she's been done drinking for a bit, it's not milk, it's thrush. At one week old, I'd ask a doctor for advice. He'll probably give you a prescription to kill the yeast in her mouth. Yogurt will kill the yeast, but should never be given to a baby so young.
Thrush isn't something to worry about, eventually your baby's mouth will build up the bacteria necessary to fight it off herself, but it becomes a worry if her mouth starts getting sore, then it will affect her eating. My son had this when he was 2 weeks old.

I had this problem with my little girl and her pediatrician said It was OK to wipe the tongue down with a washcloth to remove the milk. He also recommended giving the baby a taste of plain yogurt daily to prevent it from happening. It worked and it is totally safe.

1] Keep an eye on it
2] use a new wash cloth every time you bathe her; and wash off her gums and tongue first. Then re-wet it, and wash the rest.
[ I did this with both my kids - then switched to a wet, no paste, toothbrush as soon as first one erupted. Both my kids are cavity free - ages 18 and 23 yrs. ]

You need to rinse it with water because bacteria can build up on a tongue if not clean and cause bad breath. I have four kids and was rinsing their month slowly at an early age.

Leave it alone. Every baby has a white tongue.

If you mess with it you can give her thrush. Its a delicate ecosystem in a newborns body, leave it be.

It will not damage her. Do not mess with it. All babies have it.
