If it is in good shape and doesn't electrocute you when you're using it, water (while it isn't great) should not pose a danger to your person. Electric blankets have insulated wires. If the water gets near the plug where there it an uninsulated eletric current, be careful when unplugging and be sure to dry thoroughly before plugging it back in.

Your electric blanket should not have a problem with this. That said, not all electric blankets are as safe as they were originally designed; some of them get old, and if there is a crack in the plastic covering of the wires, it is quite possible to receive an electric shock if water forms a circuit between the wires and your body. Generally you should keep an electric blanket dry if possible.

While keeping a water source that close to the blanket is not a good idea, if the unit is not mistreated and the wiring is not broken, it should not be a problem. Most are made to be washed.

You could have knicked places in the wires that you don't even know about, and if water were to spill on them it could certainly electrocute you .
